The long awaited sequel to Weather Spice picks back up with our hero in Mexico on vacation. Confident as always with her weather predictory abilities, she is faced with some unexpected challenges in an unfamiliar tropical environment.

'Yes, I Have a Boner' is a short documentary about people who hold signs at electronic music festivals. I shot it in one day with the help of my good friend Jacqueline at Shambhala this August in Salmo, BC.

Dollhouse

Hello. And welcome to the guided tour of my dollhouse.
I recently helped with the sets, props and a bit of costumes for a music video for a Montreal/Swedish band, Thus Owls (I think my official title was Assistant Art Director). It was the best! I was put in charge of making a dollhouse for the head of the lead singer, Erika. It took me 4 days and at least 48 hours. I might have gone a little overboard. Please excuse the mediocre photos, the lighting in my apartment is terrible. I'm going to take better photos when it's nice out.

Golden Wedding was screened at the King Street Alternative Film Festival last Friday and apparently it was a hit. The festival was reviewed in Toronto's Broken Pencil Blog here and my film was mentioned with a still! Also, it was the ''Programmer's Pick''. Cool!

 I used this project to learn how to use Premiere Pro 6 and it's fucking awesome! I highly recommend ditching Final Pro 7 and moving on to the future! It was so much better already and I barely brushed the surface of it's capabilities.

East Side Culture Crawl Round 2

I had some stuff up at The China Cloud last weekend for the East Side Culture Crawl again. Here's this year's set up:

I put up these stencils in the front stairwell.

Last monkey man with a photo of the piece on the street.

I showed my prints from LA with photos of the original pieces on the street.

Tried selling the prints I put up last year again on that table.

New paintings I did about some very old childhood memories involving my friend Maria from Waldorf. Better photos and full story to come when I take the show down.

In the main room I had a cute little monitor with 5 videos on loop.

Golden Wedding

Golden Wedding. My newest short film starring Jacqueline Boily. It was part of a short film festival last night in Vancouver. It's been a year and half in the making so I am very happy it is finally done! Most of it was filmed in about an hour and a half in May 2011 at the beginning of the tree planting season at a ranch we stayed at. You'll see what I mean: Golden Wedding from shouldercat on Vimeo.

In Media Res: Short Film Festival!

I'm going to be in my first film festival tomorrow night! 

It's a short film festival for artists living or working in the Mount Pleasant area in Vancouver. 

Two of my videos will be screened:

Golden Wedding - My newest video that I just finished last week starring me and the wonderful Jacqueline Boily. I haven't ''officially'' released it on the internet so if you're in Vancouver you should come see it! (Otherwise I'm going to post it here Sat. )
Senyoretes - A short documentary shot on a regionally special day of Carnival where I ask cross dressing Catalan boys what their favorite part is about dressing like a woman.

Stick to my Side

After one year of agonizing, meticulous, deliberation I have finally decided to give up on this video that I shot in the Fall of 2010 in Montreal (the credits and title I did in Barcelona). It was the first thing I shot with my new Canon 7D and little did I know until about a week ago that you can't treat HD the same as other formats in Final Cut Pro. I tried reediting the whole project, that didn't go very well, so I realized that it's time to move onto bigger and better things. So RIP little video. I did the best I could at the time.

If anybody wants to know how to use HD in Final Cut, I think I mostly know how now...

Argentina = Street Art Heaven

Here's a cool video on street art in Argentina! Man, it makes me want to go back there! I know a couple of the artists interviewed and the bar where I worked and painted some stencils/murals is in it a lot! Also, listening to pure Argentinian Spanish is always a pleasure.

Jaguar Mode!

A short little music video by the band Jaguar Mode (featuring Long Blonds) masterminded by Garrett Jones and Adam Gilmer that I did the filming for last week at God's Pocket. Sadly, to the dismay of their many fans, both Jaguar Mode and Long Blonds are now broken up.

¡Panic!

I'd been wanting to try free hand spray painting for a long time, so when I heard about this abandoned water park near Barcelona and came up with a really simple idea at the same time, I jumped on it. Free hand is hard. I would need a lot of practice to get any good at it. Paint brushes are looking pretty good about now. I was too embarrassed to take any close up pictures but in retrospect I regret it now.

Senyoretes

I was lucky enough to know out about the best, most entertaining night of Carnival in all of Cataluyna. In a small town called Torello, 86km from Barcelona, they have a unique night of Carnival where all the guys from the surrounding area dress up as girls. It's called Senyoretes. Spanish guys love dressing up as girls, so it was good. Really good.

(Disclaimer: I fucked up the photos, they're out of focus and overexposed but I know why.)
