Art Shows

While I'm slaving away planting trees, my art is going to be hanging out in a couple of art shows in Vancouver! 

Art Waste is part of this Music Waste festival. The Book of Tree Planting Suicides will be up there. Should be a cool show. June 6th at Gallery Gachet.

The grant I got to make my book got me into this show. It's May 29th-June 9th at The Culch. I'll have a couple of paintings up.

The HAG presents...

On March 9th a bunch of us are turning 869 East Pender in Vancouver into a temporary art gallery. The idea is to showcase art by artists that usually don't exhibit either a particular medium or at all. This is my poster for the event:

East Side Culture Crawl Round 2

I had some stuff up at The China Cloud last weekend for the East Side Culture Crawl again. Here's this year's set up:

I put up these stencils in the front stairwell.

Last monkey man with a photo of the piece on the street.

I showed my prints from LA with photos of the original pieces on the street.

Tried selling the prints I put up last year again on that table.

New paintings I did about some very old childhood memories involving my friend Maria from Waldorf. Better photos and full story to come when I take the show down.

The China Cloud Culture Crawl

I had a couple of old screen prints up at The China Cloud (524 Main St.) for the East End Culture Crawl in Vancouver this weekend. The China Cloud is usually a venue but we turned it into a pretty swanky looking gallery for the weekend. It was pretty sweet. I didn't sell anything but 2 zines... but it was fun anyways. The Culture Crawl is a weekend where a bunch of studios are open to the public and art is up for sale. I checked out some of the studios on Sunday but in my humble opinion most of the art I saw felt really out of date, uninspiring, uncreative, and made me feel shitty about the art scene in Vancouver afterwards. I think I was looking in the wrong place though, there's hope.

Chris Leitch does crazy intricate pencil drawings on canvas that were impossible to document properly in the gallery.

This is the group minus me and Marcus plus Sid the dog. Courtney had some clothes and jewelry she designs for sale, and Bob had two classic looking acrylic paintings. The photo is the background is Chris' too. I did a nice, shitty job of documenting.
